Job Description and Requirements

Job Title: Psychiatrist FSR#718

Location: Azraq and Zaatari MH Clinic 

 

Responsibilities and Services:

  • According to the program schedule, the Mental Health Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric services in IMC supported mental health clinics.
  • The Mental Health Psychiatrist will attend to all cases referred by medical professionals or social service representatives from partner agencies and provide psychiatric consultation.
  • When indicated, the Mental Health Psychiatrist Consultant will provide temporary coverage in other IMC clinics.
  • The Mental Health Psychiatrist will strictly comply with the professional ethics and principles as well as clinical standards of mental health practice under Jordanian and International Standards established by WHO and MoH.
  • Adhere to the IMC Essential Drug List and initiate the approval request for exceptional medicine as per the pharmacy SoPs to avoid overuse medications.
  • Medication treatment will only be delivered if the patient is present for the appointment.
  • Ensure diagnosis and treatment regiments are consistent with ICD 10 and DSM-V criteria.
  • Provide clinically appropriate follow-up for psychiatric patients as required based on the nature and severity of individual patients' issues.
  • Record all cases seen in the psychiatric log books during each clinic session.
  • Contribute to the case management file, including assessments and treatment plan Provide clear, concrete and measurable goals and objectives for each patient served. psychiatric log book, the daily psychotropic dispensing record and in individual drug stock cards for each clinic session.
  • Monitor drug inventory and Inform IMC of drugs that are low in stock.
  • Act as the primary responsible party for the appropriate storage and inventory of the psychotropic drug stock at the clinics.
  • Contribute to the ongoing training and continuing education of case management team.
  • Support the case management team in monitoring and following up with patients in emergency cases.
  • Participate in clinical case conferences at least once per month, or as needed, with the mental health/case management team.
  • Advise IMC Senior Coordinator of any disruption or change in provision of psychiatric services and care.
  • Comply with clinic hours and notify senior IMC staff of absence or tardiness. 
  • Assit in the facilitation of psychiatric inpatient admissions as a last resort when clinically indicated.  

 

Training and education responsibilities:

  • Review and ensure appropriateness of educational modules, updating materials as needed to meet specific needs of trainee groups.
  • Prepare and deliver training sessions on identification and management of priority mental health conditions to general health staff, following WHO MH GAP Intervention Guide (MH GAP-IG) in coordination with national authorities and IMC Technical Unit.
  • Introducing MH GAP-IG to participants, familiarizing them with its components and supporting their navigation through it in daily practice.
  • Monitor trainee performance and progress during educational sessions and online distance-learning process, ensuring proper completion of knowledge assessments before and after training.
  • Analyze and interpret results of pre/post knowledge assessments, providing online and individual support and supervision to trainees in their daily practice.
  • Ensure access to WHO essential psychotropic medications for all trainees and collect and report all relevant mental health project data.
  • Implement projects in line with IMC and global MHPSS standards and guidelines, closely coordinating with MHPSS director for development and review of training materials, documentation, and reports.
  • Support in any other relevant training-related responsibilities assigned by the MHPSS director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychiatry
  • 5+ years of experience in providing supervision and training sessions.
  • experience with NGOs working in the humanitarian or development field.
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with people inside and outside of the organization, and to manage working relationships diplomatically.
  • Capable of providing IMC with a license.

Deliverables:

  • The amount of 190 JOD will be paid to each psychiatrist for managing 20 or more cases per day.
  • The amount of 152 JOD will be paid to each psychiatrist for managing 19 or less cases with per day.
  • The amount of JOD 100/ will be paid monthly to the psychiatrist providing IMC with a license.
