USAID Informal Livelihoods Advancement Activity (Iqlaa) is a five-year USAID-funded program that aims to put Jordan’s home-based businesses (HBBs) and Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) on a path to recovery, help them access the safety net measures in Jordan, and, most importantly, regain productivity and growth.

Mercy Corps approach to Iqlaa integrates direct assistance with market systems development (MSD) interventions to support MSEs along the full journey from recovery to growth and resilience. Grounded in evidence-based, adaptive, and inclusive support, Jordan’s MSEs can emerge stronger and more resilient, transformed through new ways of doing business and improved access to finance, markets, and services. The program encourages and supports the participation of all MSE-owner segments.

Mercy Corps approach is committed to supporting MSEs build back, formalize, and grow, emphasizing systems-level change, equitable opportunities, and a dignified work environment for all.

Mercy Corps leads on the implementation of Iqlaa, and weaves together technical expertise from a robust set of national, regional, and international partners.

 

The Position (General Position Summary)

The Mentorship Senior Coordinator will support the implementation of a mentorship intervention designed to institutionalize a culture of voluntary business mentoring among MSEs. The Sr. Coordinator will work closely with the Mentorship Lead, partners, and key stakeholders to design, pilot, and adapt the mentorship model. This includes supporting mentor recruitment, coordinating mentorship cycles, and ensuring the integration of monitoring and learning processes into implementation.

The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to supporting MSEs in underserved areas, comfortable in a collaborative and adaptive project environment, and able to translate plans into action in coordination with various teams.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

Intervention Coordination and Implementation

• Lead day-to-day implementation of the mentorship intervention and coordinate across intervention phases.

• Support the identification and onboarding of selected partners.

• Assist in co-designing mentorship processes, including mentor and mentee selection criteria, matching tools, and outreach strategies.

• Ensure successful and meaningful engagement between the mentors and mentees.

• Ensure the open and comprehensive selection process providing access to all MSEs targeted industries.

• Coordinate logistics and execution of mentorship sessions, both virtual and in-person.

• Manage timelines and deliverables across mentorship pilots and ensure feedback is integrated into adaptive cycles.

 

Mentor Recruitment and Engagement

• Oversee mentor outreach activities in collaboration with selected partners.

• Support the onboarding process, including access to mentorship training and other related tools.

• Facilitate mentor-mentee matching processes and track outcomes.

 

Monitoring, Learning and Reporting

• Support Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities in collaboration with the MEL team, ensuring quality data collection and learning capture.

• Gather insights from participants and stakeholders to continuously refine the mentorship model.

• Contribute to donor reporting, learning briefs, and internal documentation.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

• Interact with selected partners, local entrepreneurs, mentors, and other actors to ensure active participation.

• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for implementation partners.

• Represent the mentorship component in coordination meetings and external events when needed.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

None (but will work closely with the Mentorship Assistant).

 

Accountability

Reports Directly To: Mentorship Team Lead– Iqlaa

Works Directly With: Mentorship Assistant, MEL Team, Program Quality and Learning (PQL), Selected Partner(s), Technical Leads, Communications, and Admin staff.

 

Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders

Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.

• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in project coordination, preferably in mentoring, entrepreneurship, or livelihood development.

• Demonstrated experience in working with local communities or development partners.

• Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.

• Fluency in Arabic and proficiency in English.

• Familiarity with remote collaboration tools and digital outreach is an advantage.

• Ability to travel up to 30% across Jordan.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions

The position is based in Amman, Jordan, and it requires up to 40% travel to support country programs, which may include travel to insecure locations where freedom of movement is limited and areas where amenities are limited. Housing for this role is in individual housing, and staff will have access to good medical services, and the living situation is of a high standard.
