Drivers – for daily worker pool

CONTEXT

Médecins Sans Frontières is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed, or political affiliation. Médecins Sans Frontières is running a reconstructive surgery program in Amman, which opened in 2006, it is giving access to reconstructive surgery (orthopedic, plastic, and maxillo-facial) to war-wounded people providing comprehensive health care, MSF aims at identifying and referring patients from neighboring countries (Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and other countries with conflicts) then ensuring their medical follow-up after discharge.

Médecins Sans Frontières Reconstructive Surgery Hospital in Amman is therefore open the vacancy to feed its pool of Drivers for daily worker and emergencies.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Performing the tasks of transporting authorized goods and passengers in an MSF vehicle, ensuring its technical and safety conditions, and respecting the country's traffic rules and MSF security rules, in order to provide a safe, smooth, and efficient service

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), performing weekly check according to the MSF Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions. Carrying out a handover if another uses the vehicle
• Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as MSF security rules, in order to avoid car accidents.
•  Ensuring all passengers have all necessary papers in order before traveling, and ensuring non-MSF staff sign disclaimers of responsibility before using the vehicle
• Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting the documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to Logistics, and ensuring that the goods have the necessary documents
• Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver's driving license are valid and in the vehicle.
• Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods.
• Ensure the safe transport of Patients during movements to hotel, airport, and external appointments
• Provide needed assessment to Patients for entering and exiting the vehicle during transport
• On call when needed to drive the ambulance during times of emergency.
• Knowing and respecting the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, checkpoints, and roadblocks.
• Ensuring all passengers know and respect the security rules

THE JOB PROFILE

• Has Driving License Type (5).
• Applicants must live in Amman.
• This position is open to applicants of all genders.
• 2 years minimum of previous driving experience, desirable in MSF or another NGO
• Desirable experience with specific vehicles to use (4x4, etc.)
• Literacy, can read and write fluently
• Extensive knowledge of the operating area, Roads, highways
• Physical strength and ability to lift to 30 kg.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Good verbal communication.
• Proficiency in using GPS device

WORK LOCATION:           Amman - Al Mowasah hospital - Northern Marka

CONTRACT:                       For temporary support, no contract will be signed, and payment will be based on the number of days performed at an hourly rate.

Probable start date:       Request will be upon need
