- Summary:
IOCC seeks a Project Officer & Job Coach to support the implementation of shelter-linked training and economic empowerment activities, with a particular focus on inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWDs) and vulnerable women. The Job Coach will work closely with the Project Manager, the Community-based Inclusive Development (CBID) Coordinator & Technical Advisor, Field Coordinator, trainers, and other local actors to ensure that project participants are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to access employment opportunities.
The Project Officer & Job Coach will provide tailored coaching, develop individualized support plans, ensure accessibility of training content and venues, and follow up with participants throughout their journey toward sustainable livelihoods with IOCC. This includes providing onsite and remote support during and after training, assisting in job preparedness, and ensuring reasonable accommodations are in place for PWDs to succeed.
- General Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Identify disability-specific safety and security concerns and create simple, personalized Pre-Work Safety Checklists.
- Develop and finalize personalized Pre-Work Safety Checklists and guidelines by identifying disability-specific safety concerns in close coordination with IOCC’s Safety and Security Focal Point and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), ensuring that safety materials are available in accessible formats (e.g., simplified language, visual aids, large text, or other adaptive materials tailored to individual needs).Review vocational training and business development training materials through a disability inclusion lens and provide trainers with specific recommendations to ensure accessibility and required accommodations at the training venues.
- Conduct task analyses (when needed) for PWDs participating in training and potential employment opportunities and develop tailored support plans.
- Provide on-site coaching and support during training, on-the-job skills piloting, and rehabilitation work at field locations throughout Jordan.
- Organize individual or group job coaching sessions targeting PWDs and/or their caregivers.
- Support each PWD through a structured process to conceptualize, develop, and finalize their business plan, ensuring that all business plans are available in accessible formats and effectively linked to the utilization of small grants. Create a list of local businesses, construction companies, maintenance workshops, and other relevant employers who may hire individuals with the acquired skills.
- Work closely with each PWD to practice professional introductions, review skillsets, and prepare for interviews or common workplace questions to enhance confidence and preparedness.
- Regularly follow up with participants and assist in assessing their progress, collaborating closely with the Project Manager, Field Coordinator, and Technical Advisor to ensure the project remains on track. Maintain accurate and confidential case notes, track beneficiary progress, and prepare reports, as required.
- Maintain organized project documentation and files, respond to file-related inquiries promptly, and provide technical support to IOCC Field Coordinator/ Project Engineers
- Complete and submit weekly updates and other internal or external reports, as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in special education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Professional certification in job coaching, supported employment, or disability inclusion (preferred).
- A minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in employment coaching, livelihoods programming, or disability inclusion, preferably in an NGO setting.
- Experience working with persons with disabilities is essential.
- Strong knowledge of Jordanian labor law, disability legislation, and protection principles.
- Proficiency in vocational assessment, systematic instruction, task analysis, job matching, and workplace modifications.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, negotiation, and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including PWDs, caregivers, vocational training providers, employers, and local partners.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid driving license required.
- Patience, empathy, and a client-centered coaching approach.
- CONTACTS/KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
- IOCC CBID Coordinator and Technical Advisor Direct supervisor; responsible for oversight and coordination.
- IOCC Project manager, Field Coordinator and Technical Staff/Project Engineers: Collaborate to ensure accessibility, training, and follow-up implementation.
- Training Providers: Coordination to ensure inclusive delivery of training.
- Local Employers and Private Sector Actors: Liaise to support job matching and outreach.
- OPDs and Community Stakeholders: Liaise regarding project implementation and ensure alignment with disability inclusion best practices.
- WORKING CONDITIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Primary work location is IOCC’s Jordan Office in Amman, with regular travel throughout Amman, Irbid, and Karak governorates, as well as travel to other locations, as requested
