Location: Roving (Azraq and Zaatari Camps)
Job Summary:
Seeking a dedicated individual with a bachelor's degree in medicine and a solid background to support referral project.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Medical Approval Doctor Role:
- Answer inbound calls as well as assist parties who have specific inquiries.
- Queries may range between coverage questions, network location and medical questions.
- Receive, evaluate and assess approval requests from healthcare providers (Hospitals, Laboratories, pharmacies...).
- Ensure that all required documentation (referral form, completed medical reports, related investigation results) are in order.
- Review all referred cases to determine completeness of documentation, accuracy of the differential diagnosis and take the most appropriate and timely recommendations and action.
- Participate in committees, work groups, and/or process improvement teams that improve patient satisfaction.
- Review all medical approvals & claims.
Issuance of necessary medicines and medical approvals - surgeries - X-rays - tests that require it
- Medical solving customer problems.
For all non-urgent cases review the need for referral and admission if requested.
- Be the lead and responsible key person to communicate and negotiate with the external hospital, medical facility or treating doctor.
- Allocate the necessary approvals for outpatient services including but not limited to radiology, lab tests, day case diagnostic or therapeutic procedures and chronic medications.
- Ensure follow up of referred cases in the outside facility as well as on medication, appointment and further required follow-up.
- Daily follow up for all admitted and inpatient cases and ask for daily progress notes from treating doctor and make the necessary extended length of stay if needed, till the patient is discharged.
- Follow up on the feedback of referred cases and ensure that the feedback is communicated properly with the patient or attending physician as appropriate.
- Guide and supervise the referral officer on priority setting, management of resources including the ambulances.
- Provide job training to medical and referral staff.
- Supervise reporting of IMC referral activities/statistics, analysis.
- Support medical team in day-to-day activities, in areas of specialty such as chronic patients, ER
- Work closely with the referral office, ambulance drivers, and hospital focal points to ensure smooth transportation arrangements for all cases at B & C-Shifts with ER - Triage nurse.
- Liaise with hospital focal points to confirm bed availability and facilitate the admission process for referred patients.
- Coordinate emergency and elective cases, ensuring appropriate medical care and timely transfers.
- verifying all necessary documents are prepared before patient transfers and ensuring accurate patien condition summaries are available upon admission.
Minimum Requirments:
- Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in medical doctor is required.
- Relevant Experience: At least two years of related experience in a healthcare or medical field or senior role is considered an asset.
- Previous NGO Experience: Previous experience within NGOs or INGOs for at least one year.
- Strong Organizational and Communication Skills: Demonstrated competence in organizational skills and effective communication.
- Computer Proficiency: Proficiency in using computer software, including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Independence and Proactivity: Capable of working autonomously and independently with a proactive attitude, showing initiative in assigned tasks.
- Ethical Conduct: A commitment to respecting and applying ethical principles, particularly confidentiality in handling sensitive medical information.
- Professional Demeanor: A courteous,
- honest, and professional demeanor in all interactions and
- correspondence.
- Interpersonal Skills: The ability to communicate and relate effectively with physicians and other clinical staff, fostering positive professional relationships.

- Proficiency in English: A good command of the English language for writing, understanding, and verbal communication.
