Description

The United Nations {UN} Multi-sectoral seeks a qualified Procurement & Logistics Manager who will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and effective procurement services reflecting international public procurement best practices, compliance with the mission. Procurement & Logistics Manager. Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Head of Support Services, the Procurement & Logistics Manger is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and effective procurement services reflecting international public procurement best practices, compliance with UN's procurement policy, rules, regulations and procedures, ensuring appropriate risk management and obtaining the best value for money for the acquisition of goods, services and the contracting of works. He/she analyzes and interprets the respective rules and regulations and provides advice and solutions to a wide spectrum of complex issues related to procurement. The role requires a deep understanding of procurement policy and processes and the Procurement Manager should be able to apply them to the appropriate situations.The effective and successful achievement of results by the Procurement / Logistics Manager directly affects the overall efficiency of the region and specific project initiatives, in regards to procurement management, impacting the timely and effective implementation of the respective programmes and the business unit’s operations. Timely, market-aware, and accountable delivery of services, ensures business unit performance, efficiency and client satisfaction, which promote the image and credibility of the team and business unit as an effective service provider in project services and management. This enhances UN's competitive position as a partner of choice in sustainable development and project services in the given geographical area. The Procurement / Logistics Manager will work in close cooperation with the Business Units and Project Managers

Job Skills

    Education:
    • Advanced Degree preferably in Procurement and/or Supply Chain Management, Law, Commerce, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics or related field is required.
    • A First University degree in combination with a minimum of seven (5) years’ qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Chartered Institute of Supply and Management (CIPS) or similar international Certification, is desirable.

    Experience:
    • A minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in advising on procurement, implementing policies and procedure and delivery for complex environments, programs and services. OR 3 years of national experience + 2 years of international experience in the above mentioned functions is required.
    • Experience in the usage of computers and Google suite or office software packages.
    • Experience in working with the UN and/or multinational company or progressive company is required.
    • Experience in working with a range of stakeholders in developing and developed countries is desirable.
    • Experience with infrastructure-related procurement processes is highly desirable.
    • Personnel supervisory experience in procurement is highly desirable.
    • Experience in and knowledge of UN/international Procurement Rules and Regulations is highly desirable.

    - Languages:
    • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English or French is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
