Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.
The EU Delegation to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan works in close coordination with the Embassies and Consulates of the 27 EU Member States. We are a fully-fledged diplomatic mission and represent the European Union in dealings with the 27 governments in areas that are part of the EU’s remit.
We offer
The post of Accounts Clerk (Local Agent Job Profile of Accounts Clerk, Group III) in the Delegation’s Common Administration Section, under a fixed-term employment contract of 2 years, with a possibility of renewal under reserve of budgetary availabilities and operational considerations. For internal candidates holding an indefinite-term contract, alternative contractual arrangements may apply in accordance with institutional policies. The team consists of 30 people, and there are occasional atypical working hours.
Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation, and on the changes of these needs. The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of the Common Administration Section, providing support, expertise and assistance in the Administration field.
The following main tasks and duties are currently required:
• Financial initiating agent for commitments, payments and recovery orders according to the
Financial Regulations and the Administrative procedures in place.
• Assist in the management of the petty cash.
• Assist in managing the monthly closure of the accounts.
• Assist in managing the budget and HB accounts, credit requests, reporting and other
Administrative duties.
• Controlling bank balances for all currencies, by executing monthly replenishment requests
& managing internal transfers between accounts.
• Managing all account corrections and regularizations like matching data in the system
(i.e. MIPS with SUMMA).
• Back-up for verification of the reimbursements and authorizations for medical sickness
insurance claims for local agents.
• Assist in the logistical issues on an ad hoc basis (management of the physical inventory).
· Any other administrative task, such as archiving/filing, or ad hoc tasks relating to the activities of the Section.
The base salary will depend on relevant and verified employment experience, typically starting from 1,342.00 Jordanian Dinars. There is a competitive benefits package, subject to certain conditions, including personal leave days and public holidays, health insurance and a retirement savings plan.
The expected start date will be in October 2026.
Minimum requirements/eligibility criteria (necessary for the application to be considered)
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance;
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, including 2 years of relevant experience as an accountant. The professional experience must be acquired after the date on which the qualification allowing access to the post was obtained.
• Working knowledge - written and spoken - of English (B2) and Arabic (C1)
• Right to residence and work in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
• Excellent knowledge of computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, scheduling and communication.
• Energetic person, able to handle several strands of work in parallel in a high-pressure environment. The ability to work with others is vital.
• Medical fitness to carry out the tasks assigned.
Assets/selection criteria (basis for awarding points to select the best applicant)
• Good communication skills.
• Experience and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Previous professional experience working in an Embassy or international organization as an accountant
• Knowledge of the EEAS and/or EC internal applications

The process
After the deadline for applications, the eligible applications will be admitted to the Selection by the Committee set up for this purpose.
Depending on the number of applications received, successive phases of Selection may include shortlisting of candidates based on assessment of the information provided in the cover letter and CV; practical testing and interviews. best candidates will be invited to the final placement test and an interview.
